Over the past few months, we have been working on an exciting update to the map click circle functionality. Previously, the circle just showed the click location within a given radius.
To make the surf data more available and intuitive, we’ve added rotating arrows within the circle representing the wind direction and primary swell direction. Also, we’ve added ticks on the outside edges of the circle to show the compass points and give the wind of swell arrow location a point of reference.
In addition to the arrows, we’ve added an expandable popover which displays the surf height and quality, primary swell data, and wind data. This data corresponds to the point in time selected on the surf height chart. This popover will be open by default, but to toggle, just click on the carrot to the top right of the circle.
Since we now display surf height data on the popover, we’ve removed the duplicate information that was previously located on the top row of the surf height chart component. This cleans up the design and gives more screen real-estate to the map.
