Contact
The fastest way to reach me is email: support@pinpointsurf.com
There's no support team — it's just me. I read everything and usually respond within 24 hours. If it's an app problem, include your device type (iPhone/Android/web). If it's a forecast question, include the spot and the date — that's usually all I need to dig in.

Subscriptions & Billing
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Manage your subscription wherever you originally subscribed:
- iPhone / iPad: Open Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → select pinpointsurf → Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Open the Google Play app → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → select pinpointsurf → Cancel.
- Website: Sign in at pinpointsurf.com → Account — your subscription and the cancel option are right there.
Not sure where you subscribed? If it shows up in your Apple or Google subscription list, it's a store purchase; otherwise it's a web purchase.
Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep paid features until the end of your current billing period. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
How do I get a refund?
Apple and Google handle their own billing, so refunds for store purchases go through them:
- Apple: visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
- Google: visit the Google Play refund page or request through your order history.
- Website purchases: email support@pinpointsurf.com — I handle those directly.
I can't issue refunds for App Store or Play Store purchases (Apple and Google control that money, not me), but if something's broken or the service let you down, email me anyway — I want to know about it.
I subscribed but the app still shows the free tier.
First, make sure you're signed in with the same pinpointsurf account you used when you purchased. Then try the Restore purchases button — tap the FREE badge in the top bar to open the Pro page and it's at the bottom. If it still doesn't unlock, email support@pinpointsurf.com with the email on your account and I'll sort it out.
Can I use my subscription on multiple devices?
Yes — sign in with the same pinpointsurf account on any device (iPhone, Android, or web) and your subscription follows you.
Account
How do I delete my account?
In the app: tap your initials in the top bar, choose Account, then tap Delete account at the bottom of the page. This permanently removes your account and personal data (see the Privacy Policy for details).
Two important notes:
- If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel first (instructions above) — deleting your account does not stop store billing, because that billing lives with Apple/Google. Website subscriptions are cancelled automatically when you delete your account.
- Deletion is permanent. Saved spots and preferences can't be recovered.
You can also request deletion by emailing support@pinpointsurf.com from the address on your account. Full step-by-step instructions are on the Delete Account page.
I can't sign in / forgot my password.
Use Forgot Password on the sign-in screen for email accounts. If you signed up with Apple or Google, use that same Continue with Apple/Google button — there's no separate password. Still stuck? Email me.
Forecasts & Coverage
Where does pinpointsurf provide forecasts?
The U.S. East Coast from South Carolina through New Jersey, plus Puerto Rico. I'd rather get this coastline right than half-cover ten of them — more areas will come once this one is where I want it.
How is pinpointsurf different from other forecast apps?
I run my own high-resolution nearshore wave model that accounts for the actual bottom at your break — the sandbars, shoals, and inlets that decide whether a swell turns into surf. Most services interpolate from offshore, regional-scale models and stop there. This model takes that offshore swell and works out what happens to it as it crosses the shelf and hits your stretch of beach.
How often do forecasts update?
The wave model runs 2×/day, with new runs typically publishing around 5AM / 5PM Eastern. Everyone gets every run; paid tiers extend the forecast from 5 days out to 10 and unlock the full directional wave spectra.
The forecast was wrong. What gives?
Sometimes it will be — every wave model is a prediction, and a small error in a storm's timing or strength offshore shifts what shows up at the beach. Bad data in, bad data out. I check the model against NOAA buoys and my own sessions, and when a swell misses badly I write up why on the blog. If a forecast blew it at your spot, send me the spot and date — those reports genuinely make the model better.
Is pinpointsurf a safety tool?
No. Forecasts are informational only — always check official National Weather Service warnings and use your own judgment before paddling out. Know your limits and look out for others. Full disclaimer in the Terms of Service.
App & Technical
Why does the app ask for my location?
Only to center the map on your area and show nearby spots. It's optional — you can browse the map manually without it — and you can revoke it anytime in your device settings. I don't sell location data. Details in the Privacy Policy.
The map won't load / data looks stale.
Try a pull-to-refresh, then force-quit and reopen the app. If the problem persists, check your connection and make sure you're on the latest app version. Still broken? Email me with your device model and OS version.
